KALITTA FINALLY A CHAMPION

After six previous Top Fuel championship runner-ups, Doug Kalitta finally clinched his first crown in dramatic fashion, prevailing in a winner-take-all final round against Leah Pruett at the season finale in Pomona.

MISSION #2FAST2TASTY NHRA CHALLENGE

Mission Foods helped bring competitive racing to Saturday qualifying, pitting the semifinalists from the previous race in a series of rematches with a bonus purse and championship bonus points on the line.

HERRERA DOMINATES BIKE CLASS

Gaige Herrera became a dominant rider in his first full season, obliterating record books and winning nearly everything in sight en route to his first of two straight Pro Stock Motorcycle world championships.

NEW CLASSES = NEW CHAMPIONS

Mountain Motor Pro Stock, Top Fuel Motorcycle, and Factory X became new NHRA championship classes with the titles going to Johnny Pluchino, Larry McBride, and Greg Stanfield, respectively.

Chase Van Sant

Van Sant made his Pro Stock Motorcycle debut in Gainesville at the NHRA Gatornationals, advancing to the semifinals. It was the first of his four semifinal appearances that combined with four quarterfinal finishes that allowed Van Sant to finish the season ninth in points.
