2020

SEASON HIGHLIGHTS

COVID-19 FORCES SHORTENED SCHEDULE

The global COVID-19 pandemic shut down racing from March to June and resulted in an 11-race national event schedule of closely monitored races and a season finale in Las Vegas.

FOUR RACES IN INDY

NHRA returned to racing July 11-12 with the first of four events to be held at famed Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park, a NHRA-owned venue that allowed NHRA full control and health and wellness oversight.

SLOWLY AND CAUTIOUSLY

NHRA installed stringent safety protocols that included mandatory face masks and temperature checks for racers, fans, and officials alike, plus social distancing and other mandates that allowed fans to attend the events in limited numbers.

CHAMPS CROWNED IN LAS VEGAS

For the first time since 1974, the season did not end in California as Steve Torrence, Matt Hagan, Erica Enders, and Matt Smith earned the latest and most challenging championships of their careers in Las Vegas.
