SEASON HIGHLIGHTS

CAPPS FINALLY A CHAMP

Funny Car driver Ron Capps shed his label as the “winningest driver in NHRA history without a championship” by claiming the 2016 Funny Car world championship.

PRO STOCK GOES EFI

In one of the biggest changes to the class since its debut in 1970, Pro Stock cars switched from carburetors to fuel injection and removed their hood scoops to make the class more relevant.

STRICK STRIKES TWICE

For the first time since 1995, a Sportsman racer won two world championships in the same season as Jeff Strickland captured the crowns in both Stock and Top Dragster.

TV RATINGS SOAR

In the first year of NHRA on FOX, NHRA saw 14 million more viewers in 2016 than in 2015 and TV ratings for Sunday’s live finals shows were up 24%.
