BROWN BREAKS BARRIER

With a six-win, five-runner-up season, Top Fuel driver Antron Brown became the first Black race-car driver to win a major auto racing championship in the United States.

ENDERS MAKES PRO STOCK HISTORY

Erica Enders made NHRA history in July in Chicago by becoming the first woman to win a Pro Stock race, defeating Greg Anderson in the final round at Route 66 Raceway.

BIG-BUCK PAYDAYS

The Traxxas Nitro Shootout program debuted, offering $100,000 paydays to the winners of specialty events in Top Fuel and Funny Car with Spencer Massey and John Force, respectively, claiming the inaugural wins.

DODGE WINS PRO STOCK TITLE

Allen Johnson became the first Dodge driver in 18 years to win the NHRA Pro Stock championship, driving his Dodge Avenger, tuned by his father, Roy, to seven victories.

Courtney Force, youngest daughter of NHRA icon John Force, had an outstanding first season in Funny Car and raced to one victory in four final rounds and claimed two No. 1 qualifying positions, including the top spot at the prestigious NHRA U.S. Nationals in Indianapolis, and finished fifth in the final points standings.
