SEASON HIGHLIGHTS

50th U.S. NATIONALS

The 50th annual NHRA U.S. Nationals showcased NHRA’s past, present, and future as Tony Schumacher (Top Fuel), Gary Densham (Funny Car), Greg Anderson (Pro Stock), and Antron Brown (Pro Stock Motorcycle) collected wins.

NATIONAL RECORDS TOPPLED

Gary Scelzi became the first Funny Car driver in NHRA history to eclipse the 330-mph barrier during qualifying in Chicago as national records were broken in all four Professional classes.

LUCAS TRIPLES DOWN

Lucas Oil Products renewed its sponsorship of the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series and became the Official Oil of NHRA and the presenting sponsor of NHRA2day, NHRA’s weekly magazine TV show.

TRAGIC LOSS

Popular Top Fuel racer Darrell Russell was killed in a racing accident in late June. Team owner and drag racing legend Joe Amato later selected Morgan Lucas as Russell’s replacement.
