K.J. FIRST TO SIXES IN PRO STOCK

Kurt Johnson recording Pro Stock’s first six-second run, a 6.988, May 20 during Friday evening qualifying in Englishtown, N.J., to become the first member of the Holley 6-Second Pro Stock Club.

FORCE SWEEPS THE SWING

John Force became just the second driver to sweep the Western Swing, scoring consecutive wins in Denver, Sonoma, and Seattle that was bookended by single wins on either side for a five-race winning streak.

‘THE SNAKE’S’ FINAL STRIKE

Four-time Funny Car world champ Don “the Snake” Prudhomme ended a 30-year career with a successful “Final Strike” season in Top Fuel that netted him three wins (for a total of 49) and a second-place finish.

FIRST JR. CHAMPIONSHIP

The inaugural NHRA Jr. Drag Racing League National Championships were held Aug. 26-28 at Indianapolis Raceway Park. More than 500 racers representing from the U.S. and Canada towed to Indy to compete for $300,000 in college scholarships.
