GARDNER NAMED NHRA'S SECOND PRESIDENT

Dallas Gardner became the second president in NHRA history and immediately targeted facility development, NHRA ownership of select tracks, new sponsors, and expanded TV coverage as his key initiatives.

MULDOWNEY INJURED IN CANADIAN CRASH

Reigning NHRA Winston Top Fuel champion Shirley Muldowney suffered severe injuries to her legs, ankles, and pelvis in a qualifying accident at the Le Grandnational outside of Montreal, Canada.
